Going Shorter

I went to the salon last Thursday and told my stylist I wanted to go shorter, much shorter. When I cut my hair short the last time it was the most drastic change I had ever experienced with my hair. I loved that cut and I loved the ease of short hair. I have been blessed with lots of hair, but what is a blessing can also be a curse. When my hair is long it takes hours to dry and style, something that I just don't have the energy or time to do on a daily basis. So instead of enjoying long flowing locks I'm left with mostly buns and pony tails. As much as having long hair makes me feel pretty and feminine, shorter hair just works better (and it can still be feminine).

It looks a little windswept after my walk home, whoops.

I was a bad blogger on the day of my cut and forgot to take a before shot. I had about 10 inches taken off in order to donate it. Since I didn't want to go as short as my last haircut I was worried my hair wouldn't be long enough to donate, but it worked out in the end. Having shorter hair again has made me feel lighter. I know hair doesn't really change anything, but sometimes it's the biggest, most immediate change you can control (one that can always grow back). The fact that I like controlled change probably says something about me, psychologically speaking, but at least now I can wash and dry my hair in under an hour!

My New Do

I'm super excited to reveal my new hair cut to you guys. I went to Pavlova salon this morning with an idea for a shorter look and put my trust in my hairdresser, Sara, as to what would look great in the end. Sara did an amazing job and did not let me down (she never does)! Since I have pretty really think hair, she suggested I go for something like Frankie Sandford's (from The Saturdays) look. I had never really seen Frankie's hair before, but I immediately agreed when she found a picture to show me.

Frankie Sandford

I was so ready for a fresh start and a completely new look. I have never gone this short before and was just ready for something different. The style is also pretty unique, with more of an artsy asymmetrical flair to it, which I loved.

I forgot to take a pre-cut selfie this morning so this is about the most recent picture really showing off the before length.

And here's the after...

I can't wait to play around with it some more and see all the different ways I can style it. Plus for those of you who watch Doctor Who I feel a little bit like Eleven. I should be rocking a bow tie and a fez right now. Geronimo!

New Hair Cut Ideas

I finally made an appointment to get my hair cut and have been looking through ideas all day. I definitely want to go shorter... I just haven't decided how much shorter. I would love to chop it all and go for something along the lines of Ginnifer Goodwin or Carey Mulligan, but I don't know if I have that much courage. I'm a little afraid I don't have the right jaw line or face shape to pull such a short cut off well... and I really don't want to end up looking like a 10 year old boy. I'm just looking for something brand new that I can look sophisticated but also edgy with.
