Hello Hello,
Like I mentioned in my last post, the High Summer Read-A-Thon happened this past week. Since I plan on filming a monthly wrap-up video for July I'll try to keep this post short and sweet. Overall the read-a-thon turned out much better than I had hoped. I found time every day to read and was able to finish more books than I expected.
I ended up finishing Middlesex by Jeffery Eugenides, which had 100 pages left at the start of the week, and Allegiant by Veronica Roth, which had about 30% left on Monday morning.
On Wednesday I started reading A Moveable Feast by Ernest Hemingway. The book is relatively short, only 180 pages, and I could have easily rushed through the stories to mark it off the list. Instead I felt the strong desire to slow down and savor Hemingway's Paris for a little bit longer. After finishing 50 pages I set the book aside and picked up The Stranger by Albert Camus. My mom's copy of The Stranger has been on my shelf for a while now. The cover is totally captivating. Another small book, this short novel is only 154 pages long, and I was able to finish reading it by Sunday afternoon.
During the week I started listening to the audiobook of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. I have all of the Harry Potter audiobooks on my computer and I love listening to them while I'm doing chores around the house. I was able to finish just under half of the book.
Lastly, my hold for Ms. Marvel Vol. 2: Generation Why by G. Willow Wilson was available last week at the library, so I was able to start and finish that as well.
In case you weren't keeping track that was:
-4 Finished Books
-Roughly 596 Pages Read
and
-3.5 Hours of Audiobook
Maybe these numbers aren't huge compared to other people's but I'm proud of myself for putting in the effort and sticking with the challenge. Reading always makes me feel good.
Did you participate in the HSReadathon? How did it go? What books have you been reading lately?

High Summer Read-A-Thon
Hi Everyone,
Yesterday was the first day of the High Summer Read-A-Thon. The read-a-thon was started by The True Book Addict and this will be my first year participating.
I haven't been able to read as many books this summer as I have in the past, mostly because I've been working extra hours and catching up with friends. It's been nice, but I miss reading.
My goals for the High Summer Read-A-Thon:
Finish Middlesex
Finish Allegiant
Read A Moveable Feast
Read The Stranger
Start reading Lola and the Boy Next Door
These seem like lofty goals since I'm working two extra days this week, but I'm hoping the read-a-thon encourages me to pick up a book when contemplating my next Netflix binge.
